LexisNexis honors Lou Duffy for years
of exemplary service
To honor Louis F. Duffy’s
many years of exemplary service to LexisNexis and the International Bar
Association (IBA), the company has established the Louis F.
Duffy Scholarship.
Lou (pictured left),
who began his career with Martindale-Hubbell Legal Publishing Company in 1956,
is the LexisNexis® Martindale-Hubbell® liaison with the IBA and is a member of the
LexisNexis Martindale-Hubbell Legal Advisory Board. He also is liaison with the
American Bar Association, the National Bar Association, the Canadian Bar
Association, the Balkan States Bar Association and the International Trademark Association. He is a former member of the Advisory Council
of the United States National Judicial College.
“One of Lou’s great
passions is mentoring young attorneys through the IBA,” said Andy Prozes, LexisNexis Group CEO. “By establishing a scholarship
in Lou’s name, we recognize his tremendous positive influence on countless IBA attorneys to date, and
his many contributions to LexisNexis Martindale-Hubbell over an amazing 50-year
career.”
“Over the past 16
years, my involvement with LexisNexis Martindale-Hubbell international growth
and development has truly been a joy with great rewards,” Lou said. “To be
further honored by the establishment of this scholarship is overwhelming. I
truly appreciate having my name associated with this latest LexisNexis
philanthropic contribution to the legal profession throughout the world.”
The Louis F. Duffy
Scholarship will help young attorneys from developing countries participate in
the IBA’s Distance Learning Program.
The IBA program is designed specifically to meet the
needs of lawyers wishing to practice internationally.
“Over many years Lou
Duffy has contributed to the IBA in numerous ways. It
is an absolute pleasure to be able to honor him and all that he has done for
the Association in his inimitable way,” said Mark Ellis, IBA executive director. “This
scholarship in his name is both deserving and fitting. ”Among Lou’s honors is one received from U.S.
Supreme Court Justice John Roberts for his support of the Supreme Court
Historical Society and his work with the legal profession around the world.
