Much anticipated new content against Law Firms to go-live in 2007
NEW PROVIDENCEIn the early new year
Martindale-Hubbell will begin publishing Client Review content for subscribing law firms on martindale.com®. The introduction of third-party
reviews against law firms will be one of the most significant enhancements to the Martindale-Hubbell service since the print directory was first published online at www.martindale.com in
1996.
Martindale-Hubbell is currently concluding a lengthy consultation with an international group of senior corporate counsel and private practice lawyers and expects to formally launch the new service as early as March 2007.
Client Review will allow firms that subscribe to the Martindale-Hubbell International Law Directory to “nominate” past or current clients as references, free of charge. These nominated client references or “reviewers” will then be approached by Martindale-Hubbell and asked to complete a short confidential review of the subject firm in areas such as client service, value for money and quality of legal representation. Reviewers will also be asked to specify the practice areas, industry sectors and geographies for which they would recommend
the subject firm.
The anonymity of respondents will be protected as responses and recommendations will not be attributed to individual reviews; they will be aggregated into a summary Client Review report that will then be published online at martindale.com within the subject firm’s profile. Client Review information will not be published in the traditional print directory.
Commenting on the development, James Harley, international marketing director for LexisNexis Martindale-Hubbell said, “The addition of Client Review information at martindale.com is a very significant development for buyers and sellers of cross- border legal services.” Noting that Martindale-Hubbell has long been a trusted
source of information on the global legal profession, Harley predicted, “The
addition of this highly valuable and important data will transform the role
martindale.com plays in the evaluation, selection and review of external
counsel. Buyers of legal services, especially those seeking representation in
remote jurisdictions, will find this new information invaluable as they assess
and compare the capabilities and credentials of firms on their short-lists.”
